Study in
the UK.

One-year master’s degrees and two years of post-study work without needing a sponsor. This is what the UK route costs and requires.

UK University Campus

The Advantage

Why Choose the UK?

The UK is home to some of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities. It offers an internationally respected education that sets you apart in the global job market.

With master's degrees that typically take only one year to complete, the UK provides a fast, cost-effective route to upgrading your qualifications and advancing your career.

The Process

Pathways & Requirements

University Admissions

We assist with UCAS applications for undergraduate degrees and direct applications for fast-tracked postgraduate programs.

Graduate Route Visa

Stay in the UK for up to 2 years (or 3 years for PhD students) after graduating to look for work and gain international experience.

English Requirements

We guide you through booking and preparing for required English proficiency tests like IELTS for UKVI or PTE.

Student Route Visa

We work through the visa application with you, chase your CAS, and get the maintenance funds evidenced correctly. The 28-day rule catches more applicants than anything else.

Accommodation

University halls are the simplest option for a first year and usually need applying for as soon as you accept an offer. Private lets often want a UK guarantor, which is the point most international students get stuck.

Healthcare & Support

The Immigration Health Surcharge is charged per year of visa granted, not per year of course, and it is paid upfront with the application. We make sure the figure you budget for is the one you will actually be asked for.

The detail

What the UK actually requires

The UK is the strictest destination on this site for financial evidence, and the least forgiving of small errors. It is also the one where the numbers are about to change.

Maintenance rises on 30 November

From 30 November 2026 you must show £1,203 a month outside London, capped at nine months, so £10,827. In London it becomes £1,570 a month, or £14,130. The current figures are £1,171 and £1,529. If your application falls after that date, budget for the new ones.

The 28-day rule

Your funds must sit in the account for 28 consecutive days, and the closing balance on your statement must be dated no more than 31 days before you apply. A single dip below the required amount on any day in that window is an automatic refusal, even by a pound. This is the most common reason UK student applications fail, and it is entirely avoidable.

The health surcharge is bigger than people expect

The Immigration Health Surcharge is £776 per year of visa granted, not per year of course, and it is paid in full when you apply. A one-year master’s is usually granted around sixteen months, which rounds up to two years of surcharge. Budget for roughly £1,552, not £776. The visa fee itself is £558 on top.

A TB certificate is required from Ghana

Applicants from Ghana staying more than six months must provide a tuberculosis test certificate from a clinic approved by the Home Office. Not any clinic, and not any doctor. It has a validity period, so timing it against your application date matters.

The Graduate Route needs no sponsor

After graduating you can stay two years, or three with a doctorate, without a job offer or an employer willing to sponsor you. That is the genuine advantage of the UK route, and it is what makes a one-year master’s worth the higher tuition for many people.

One year, not two

A UK master’s is typically twelve months against two years in North America. Tuition per year looks higher, but you pay one year of rent and food instead of two, and you return to earning a year sooner. Compare total cost rather than headline tuition.

Requirements checked 9 September 2026. The maintenance increase was announced on 3 September and takes effect on 30 November. The cost calculator shows the full first-year figure, separating what you spend from what you only need to show.
